Bitcoin QT backup

I have been having issues with Bitcoin-QT 0.8.0 on OSX 10.7.5 for some time now. It crashes all the time. Today I was trying to move my wallet balance off to some paper wallets for long-term storage because of this problem. It crashed and then said the database was corrupted. I am reindexing it right now. At first it was chugging along. Now it’s taking up 275% of my CPU and looks like it will take days to re-index.

My wallet balance says 0 BTC, and what was my previous balance is now listed as “unconfirmed”. This is a substantial amount of money, and I’m really stressing out about it.

I have a fairly recent wallet backup. My understanding is that I can import my old wallet.dat to Blockchain.info, and then transfer to my paper wallets from there. There are some smaller transactions I have made that will not be reflected in the backup.

I think I should be ok if I import my wallet.dat backup to Blockchain.info, but I want to be absolutely sure that this is a good course of action.
