Bitcoin QT wallet file

If you’re new to Cannacoin and cryptocurrency, here’s a little guide on how to get up and running with your desktop Cannacoin wallet. I’ll cover the basic features of the wallet, as well as how to send and receive Cannacoin.

Download and run the wallet:

You’ll obviously need to get yourself the wallet first of all. Head over to the official Cannacoin website and download the wallet for your platform of choice. I’m a Windows user so this part may vary ever so slightly for Mac/Linux users, but for Windows you’ll end up having downloaded a Zip file.

Open up the zip file and copy the folder labelled “Windows client” to a memorable location where you will keep these files (and perhaps rename the folder to “Cannacoin wallet” or something similar).

To open your wallet, simply double-click the file within that is named “cannacoin-qt”. The wallet will open and you’ll see the overview page. You can also right-click this same file and create a desktop shortcut for ease-of-use in the future, should you wish.

The wallet will start syncing with the network when it’s opened. using it. So if you’re completely new to these things, I’d personally recommend you wait it out before moving on. The time this takes to complete will vary greatly depending on the speed of your internet connection.

The overview page:

There are several tabs along the top of the wallet software, the first is “Overview”. There’s not too much to detail here really, essentially this page shows you how many Cannacoins are in your wallet, as well as showing the most recent transactions you have made (there’ll obviously be none to begin with on a brand new wallet).

You’ll also see field for “unconfirmed balance”. This shows any coins that you have received recently, but have not yet been confirmed by the network. You will have to wait for this to move into your confirmed balance before you can then send them or spend them, which should usually only take a few minutes from the time it was sent to you.
