Bitcoin wallet history

Mark

Like silver and gold, the market for bitcoins is highly speculative. It is possible to make a lot or lose everything very quickly. It hasn't been that long ago that the price of bitcoins dropped by over half overnight.
Some people say that bitcoins are worthless because they aren't backed by anything. The counter argument is that One could argue that gold isn't backed by anything either (I disagree. Gold is a physical object you can hold in your hand with thousands of years of history to back up its value). Bitcoins have properties resulting from the system's design that allows them to be subjectively valued by individuals ('Subjective' is the key word. Bitcoins have value essentially because you think they do.)

What are some of the major and common exchanges that Bitcoin trades on? (other than Mt. Gox obviously)?

Today I learn that Mt. Gox, one of Bitcoins major exchanges, went down. I'd like to learn more about Bitcoin and I'd like to start tracking it's performance on some exchanges. What are some of the other major and "apparently trusted" exchanges that this currency trades on? I'd like to learn more. How can I check graphs (like I do for the nasdaq or NYSE on google finance)? Can anyone explain to me the process of buying and using Bitcoins safely and completely anonymously?

I want to be able to use money anonymously and I have been researching bitcoins but my brain is fried. I don't feel I am getting it and need a step by step guide on my Mac to buying Bitcoins, creating an e-wallet and then using them securely. Some sites say you have wash the coins through different sites to keep it secure. I still don't even know how to safely purchase it. And then when I do how to access it to use it? Anyone familiar with Bitcoins that can take time to help me?Mark

Getting Bitcoins
Check for a list of all the Bitcoin Exchanges around the world. Choose one which is ideally in the same country/currency as yours or has the lowest cost method you can transfer currency to. For example if you live in Singapore, you would choose FYB-SG as it provides trading in your home currency and free deposit/withdrawals.
Another great resource to check is the Bitcoin Wiki Buying Bitcoins page,

Sign up at the exchange, deposit money into their account via one of their supported methods and place a buy order either at the market price or lower(if you can wait and think that the price might drop).
