Create Litecoin wallet address

A company in Portland, Oregon is selling a fireproof cold wallet capable of storing both bitcoin and litecoin. The laser-engraved wallet, which is made from stainless steel, claims to be almost indestructible.

The name ‘ColdCoins’ is in reference to the idea of ‘cold storage’. This is an offline method of storing virtual currency. This can prevent someone from stealing them online as opposed to using an internet-connected ‘hot wallet’. Chris Sweeting, founder of the ColdCoins virtual currency wallet, said:

“Keeping your bitcoins or litecoins offline in a ‘paper wallet’ and stored in multiple safe locations using an address that was created offline is the most secure place to keep your fortune.”

I accidentally recycled my offline paper wallet … I thought there had to be a better way.

“Moving a little bit of your coins at a time from a cold storage wallet to an online hot wallet as you need them is the best protection method, ” said Sweeting. The wallets are made to be practically unbreakable, offering a physical layer of security.

“The cards are made from .03″ anodized stainless steel with a melting temperature above 2, 700°F [1, 500°C] and the addresses are laser engraved. Paper or plastic wallets would be destroyed in minutes or seconds whereas metal would not.”

Sweeting says that he came up with the idea of a stainless steel wallet for himself after he accidently destroyed a paper wallet that had some value stored in it.

“I put together a small GPU mining rig and played around with it for a few months until I accidentally recycled my offline paper wallet. Granted, there wasn’t much in there, but I thought there had to be a better way.”

Sweeting then had the epiphany that others would probably be interested in this type of wallet for physical protection of their coins.
