Warren, have you considered that congress and or western governments may
initially appear to be neutral or in favor of crypto currencies such as
Bitcoin for more deliberate reasons of concern and not just from them all
being “Thick as bricks”. For example, in order for the general population
to become more familiar & accustomed to using digital currencies only to
later have such currencies banned or severely restricted likely during a
financial crisis at the same time that a new digital currency is introduced
by western governments or the IMF. Such a currency may even initially be
backed by gold or another commodity in order to strengthen global
confidence in adopting the use of such a currency only for government to
later stop or phase out the commodity backing the currency the way Nixon
did back in the early 70’s. At such point all financial transactions would
be tracked by various government agencies and any opposition to the status
quo would have severe difficulties funding itself. I suspect that even the
possibility of global or regional totalitarianism would not be out of the
question if a government controlled digital currency is ever implemented in
