How to view your Litecoin balance in your offline wallet

Step 1. Synchronize your wallet with the network

  • Open Litecoin-Qt and wait for it to sync with the network (synchronize the blockchain on your computer with the current one on the network).

Step 2. Disconnect from the internet

  • If you haven’t already done so, close Litecoin-Qt.
  • Disconnect your computer from the internet. This will ensure you are checking your balance whilst your computer is offline.

Step 3. Copy your wallet.dat file back onto your computer

  • Navigate to the folder you previously moved your wallet.dat from (Step 7 in the Step-by-step guide to securing your Litecoin wallet).
  • Windows users:

    C:\Users\[YOUR USERNAME]\AppData\Roaming\Litecoin\wallet.dat

  • Linux users:

    /home/[YOUR USERNAME]/.litecoin/wallet.dat

  • IMPORTANT NOTE – you will see a new wallet.dat file here because Litecoin-Qt would have created one when you opened it. As long as you haven’t created/used or intend to use any address from this new wallet.dat file, you can safely delete it.
  • Now copy your wallet.dat file from your offline source (USB stick, CD etc.) into the folder.

    • Step 4. Open Litecoin-Qt and view your balance

    • Open the Litecoin-Qt client and wait for it to show your balance!
