Change Litecoin wallet location

Finally, the first clean and serious build of Electrum wallet for Litecoin has been , before I start talking about Electrum and why I consider it to be a good alternative client for Litecoin-qt, I will tell you why these later clients have minimum tolerance to mistakes and need a real backup discipline.

The reference client use change addresses by default and this feature is good for privacy but sadly it cant be disabled, this means that the client break each input (transaction) to multiple ones and send the amount that you did insert to the receiving address while sending back the change to a new address that you cant see in your receiving addresses, so it is really important to make a backup each time you make a transaction or you will suffer losing your funds if your disk crash.

imagine a scenario where I wanted to teach my parents about how to use Litecoin, for example, they think they are Tech savvy, the truth is that my father manage to screw up the PC all the time, he thinks that he is a hardcore computer scientist and end up messing system files all the time, and then he always chose to go with a new installation without asking if anyone have important files on the PC, he also offers “help” to his friends…you can only imagine what can happen if they all have litecoin-qt clients without a good backup discipline of their wallets and files.

We have to keep in mind that Bitcoin/Litecoin are meant for the masses, it is hard to explain what a Litecoin is for the average user and when they do get the Idea, try to explain to them how easy they can lose everything, yet after convincing them to install a local wallet, try to explain that they have to download the whole Blockchain and wait all that time….this is why most of the new comers keep their money on exchanges and online wallet services…and we all know how this plays out in most cases, So one approach is to introduce these users to better solutions….Electrum
